1. Introduction and Definitions
1.1 Scope. This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") describes how Veldt LLC, a Nebraska limited liability company ("Veldt," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, discloses, and otherwise processes information in connection with the Service. By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy.
1.2 Definitions. Capitalized terms used in this Policy have the meanings set forth below.
- "App" means the Marble Budget mobile application, distributed by Veldt through the Apple App Store, together with any updates, upgrades, and accompanying documentation.
- "Apple" means Apple, Inc. and its affiliates.
- "iCloud" means Apple's cloud storage and synchronization service, including the underlying programming interfaces used by the App.
- "Personal Information" means information that identifies, relates to, or could reasonably be linked with an identified or identifiable natural person, as defined under applicable law.
- "Service" means, collectively, the App, the Site, and any related services that Veldt provides.
- "Site" means the website located at marblebudget.com and any subdomains and successor domains.
- "you" or "your" means the individual accessing or using the Service.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide through the App. Financial information you voluntarily enter into the App — including transactions, accounts, budget categories, splits, transfers, and configuration preferences — is stored locally on your device and, when iCloud synchronization is enabled as described in Section 3.2, in your personal iCloud account associated with your Apple ID. Veldt does not access this information except as you provide it to us under this Policy.
2.2 Receipt scanning. If you use the App's receipt-scanning feature, receipt images and related text may be processed on your device for the purpose of suggesting transaction information for your review. Veldt does not receive receipt images or extracted receipt text through this feature. Any transaction information you choose to save from a scanned receipt is treated as information you provide through the App under this Policy. The App may retain related suggestion data on your device and, if iCloud synchronization is enabled, in your personal iCloud account, to support receipt-scanning functionality.
2.3 Information we receive through Apple. In connection with your acquisition and use of the App through the Apple App Store, Apple provides us with limited information necessary to administer the App, including (i) confirmation of your subscription status (such as active, expired, or in trial) and (ii) anonymized crash diagnostics generated by the operating system, which we may access through Apple's developer diagnostic tools to identify and remediate defects.
2.4 Information you provide for support. If you contact us for support, we receive any information you choose to include in your communication, such as a description of the issue, your device model, operating-system version, and App version. We use this information to respond to your request.
2.5 Scenario calculator inputs. Inputs you provide to in-App scenario calculators are processed within the session in which you provide them and are not retained by Veldt after that session.
2.6 Information collected through the Site. The Site is informational in nature. When you visit the Site, our hosting provider may automatically receive and log standard request information, including IP address, user-agent string, referring URL, request timestamp, and the resource requested, for the purposes of operating, securing, and troubleshooting the Site. The Site may also present forms through which you voluntarily submit information, such as your email address and communication preferences. The Site does not currently set tracking cookies or use third-party analytics.
2.7 Information you submit through the Site. If you submit information through a form on the Site, we collect the information you provide, which may include your email address and any preferences or consent choices you indicate. We use this information to communicate with you about the Service, including product updates and launch information, and, where you opt in, other communications about Marble Budget. Information submitted through forms on the Site is stored in our hosting provider's infrastructure (Cloudflare). You may withdraw your consent or request deletion of information submitted through the Site at any time by emailing legal@veldtllc.com.
3. How Your Data Is Stored
3.1 Local storage. Financial data you enter into the App is stored locally on your device, where it is protected by the device-level security features made available by the operating system, including, where you enable them, your device passcode and biometric authentication.
3.2 iCloud synchronization. iCloud synchronization is enabled by default when iCloud is available for your Apple ID and device. When enabled, financial data you enter in the App is stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's iCloud and CloudKit services, subject to Apple's then-current security practices. Veldt does not operate a separate account system for reviewing or retrieving that iCloud-stored financial data in the ordinary operation of the Service. You may disable iCloud synchronization at any time in the App's Settings. Apple's processing of data stored in iCloud is governed by Apple's then-current privacy policy, available at apple.com/privacy.
3.3 Shared budgets (optional). If you elect to use the App's budget-sharing feature, your financial data — to the extent included in the shared budget — becomes accessible to the Apple ID users you invite. Once you initiate sharing, invited participants may view and, depending on the access level you grant, modify the shared data. You may select invitees and revoke access using the controls provided by the App, iCloud, and Apple.
3.4 Disabling iCloud. If you disable iCloud synchronization, App data is removed from iCloud storage. Local data on the device on which you make the change is preserved. Data on other devices that previously synchronized to iCloud may be lost.
3.5 Server-side storage. Veldt does not operate a server-side financial-data database for the App. Financial data you enter in the App is stored on your device and, when iCloud synchronization is enabled, in your personal iCloud account. Veldt may receive and retain information you choose to provide outside the App, such as support communications, website form submissions, screenshots, exported files, diagnostic materials, or other communications, as described in this Policy.
4. How We Use Information
4.1 Purposes. We use the information described in Section 2 for the following purposes: (i) to provide, maintain, and improve the Service; (ii) to administer your subscription through the Apple App Store; (iii) to respond to support inquiries you initiate; (iv) to identify and remediate defects, security issues, and operational issues; (v) to comply with applicable law; and (vi) to establish, exercise, or defend legal rights.
4.2 No sale or advertising sharing of App financial data. Veldt does not sell financial data entered in the App or share such financial data for cross-context behavioral advertising. Veldt may use service providers to operate the App, process App Store subscriptions, host the Site, respond to support requests, maintain security, and perform other purposes described in this Policy.
5. Third-Party Services
5.1 Apple services. We rely on Apple platform services to make the App available, including (i) the Apple App Store, which processes subscriptions and payments; (ii) iCloud and the related cloud-storage service, which provide synchronization and budget sharing; (iii) Apple's in-app purchase system; and (iv) Apple on-device capabilities used for receipt scanning and for the AI assistant described in Section 7. Apple's processing of information in connection with these services is governed by Apple's then-current privacy policy.
5.2 Site hosting. The Site is hosted by a third-party hosting provider. Standard request information described in Section 2.6 may be processed by that provider in connection with hosting.
6. Data Security
6.1 Safeguards. We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information in our possession against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Local data is protected by the device-level security features made available by the operating system; iCloud data is protected by Apple in accordance with Apple's then-current iCloud security practices. Veldt does not access or receive your biometric data.
6.2 No guarantee. No method of electronic transmission or storage is fully secure. We do not, and cannot, guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, your Apple ID, your passcode, and any biometric authentication you choose to enable.
7. The AI Assistant
7.1 On-device processing. The App includes an AI assistant available on eligible devices running iOS 26 or later. The assistant is implemented using Apple's on-device foundation-model capability and is designed to process queries on your device, using financial data stored locally on your device to generate responses.
7.2 No transmission to Veldt. The assistant is designed to operate locally. Veldt does not receive queries, responses, or financial data through the assistant.
7.3 Apple Intelligence requirement. Use of the assistant requires Apple Intelligence to be available and enabled on your device. Apple's processing of information in connection with Apple Intelligence and the underlying foundation model is governed by Apple's then-current privacy policy.
7.4 No advice; accuracy. Assistant outputs may contain errors, inaccuracies, or omissions and are provided for informational purposes only. Outputs are not financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice. See Section 7 of the Terms and Conditions.
8. Your Rights and Choices
You may exercise the following rights at any time using the controls provided in the App and through your Apple device and iCloud settings.
8.1 Access. You may view all data you have entered directly within the App.
8.2 Correction. You may edit, correct, or update any data directly within the App.
8.3 Portability. You may export your data in a standard format using the App's export feature. Exported files are saved to your device and are your responsibility from the point of export.
8.4 Deletion. You may delete financial data stored by the App using the "Delete All Data" control in the App's Settings. This control deletes App data stored on the device on which you use it. If iCloud synchronization is enabled, you may disable iCloud synchronization to remove App data from iCloud. This control does not delete information maintained by Apple, including App Store subscription records, or information you have separately provided to Veldt, such as support communications, website form submissions, or emails.
8.5 iCloud controls. You may disable iCloud synchronization at any time. Disabling synchronization removes App data from iCloud storage while preserving local data on the device on which you make the change.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13. Financial data entered in the App is stored on the user's device and, when iCloud synchronization is enabled, in the user's personal iCloud account. Veldt does not operate an account system that allows us to access, retrieve, or delete App financial data on a user's behalf. This does not apply to information a user separately provides to Veldt, such as support communications, emails, or website form submissions. If a parent or guardian believes a child under 13 has used the App, the parent or guardian should (i) disable iCloud synchronization for the relevant Apple ID; (ii) delete local data using the "Delete All Data" control in the App's Settings; and (iii) delete the App from the device.
10. International Users; GDPR and UK GDPR
10.1 Cross-border storage. As described in Section 3, financial data you enter is stored locally on your device and, when iCloud synchronization is enabled, in your iCloud account. Apple may store iCloud data in various locations globally, subject to Apple's then-current policies.
10.2 EEA, United Kingdom, and Swiss residents. If you are a resident of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the following applies to information we process under this Policy:
- Because your financial data is stored in your own iCloud account, you act as the effective controller of that data. To the extent we process personal data of EEA, UK, or Swiss residents, we do so for the purposes described in this Policy and in accordance with the lawful bases set out in Article 6 of the GDPR (or its UK or Swiss analogues).
- You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any information we process about you, to object to or restrict processing, and to data portability. You may exercise these rights through the Service itself and through your Apple ID and iCloud settings, or by contacting us as set forth in Section 16.
- You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority.
11. California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, to the extent the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, the "CCPA"), applies to Veldt, you may have the following rights with respect to your Personal Information:
- Right to know. You may request information about our collection, use, and disclosure of any Personal Information we hold about you. All financial data you have entered into the App is visible to you within the App.
- Right to correct. You may correct any data directly within the App.
- Right to delete. You may delete data using the controls described in Section 8.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing. Veldt does not sell financial data entered in the App or share such financial data for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Right to limit use of sensitive Personal Information. Veldt does not use or disclose sensitive Personal Information for purposes that trigger this right.
- Right to non-discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any right under the CCPA.
12. Nebraska Residents (NDPA)
If you are a resident of Nebraska, to the extent the Nebraska Data Privacy Act (the "NDPA"), effective January 1, 2025, applies to Veldt, you may have rights with respect to your Personal Information, including the right to (i) access data you have entered directly within the App; (ii) correct data within the App; (iii) delete data using the controls described in Section 8; (iv) obtain a copy of your data using the export feature; and (v) opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or profiling. Veldt does not sell financial data entered in the App or share such financial data for cross-context behavioral advertising.
13. Nevada Residents
Under Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 603A, Nevada residents have the right to opt out of the sale of certain covered Personal Information. Veldt does not sell Personal Information as defined under that statute. To submit an inquiry, contact us using the information in Section 16.
14. Business Transfers
In connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, financing, or similar transaction, information governed by this Policy may be transferred to a successor entity.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. For material changes, we may (i) post the revised Policy at marblebudget.com/privacy/ or within the App; (ii) update the Effective Date at the top of this Policy; and (iii) where required by applicable law or otherwise appropriate, present the revised Policy in-App and request your acknowledgment before continued use. Non-material changes are effective when posted, unless a later Effective Date is stated.
